The Jumeirah Lowndes Hotel in London’s leafy Belgravia recently reopened after an £8 million refurbishment.
As part of its unveiling to the conference and events industry Sales Manager Mark Ryan and Director of Sales MICE Tanya Mitchell held a ‘Shopping and Sushi’ evening for members of the Buyers’ Networking Club.
Club members were invited along for an evening of education and relaxation in the new meeting and event room on the ground floor. They were treated to an Elemis hand massage and a private viewing of luxury business travel items from Harvey Nichols.
Sarah Hicks, UK Manager for Champagne producers, Pommery, added some sparkle to the evening with a fascinating Champagne lesson and taste session. BNC members learnt about the history of this 149-year-old French company and tried three very different varieties, liking the Lowndes art deco inspired Champagne flutes almost as much as the bubbly itself!
“A Champagne tasting session is a great way to get an evening going,” comments Sarah. “It is a really good ice breaker as the different tastes and smells and effects get people talking plus it’s a real treat for your hard working staff.”

Pommery is the only Champagne served at the GILT Champagne Lounge at the Jumeirah Carlton Tower. “Pommery isn’t your ordinary High Street Champagne so it’s something extra special for Jumeirah guests,” says Mark Ryan.
“Jumeirah is the fastest growing luxury hotel chain and we plan to have a hotel in every major city in the world. We are now competitors to the hotel chains like the Four Seasons.
“The Lowndes is a boutique hotel that offers the same brand of luxury and high level of service as the Carlton Tower but the two hotels are very different and compliment each other very well.
“This hotel was redesigned to help people relax and de-stress. This is where they can come for a sense of calm and serenity.”
After a tour of the 87-room boutique hotel the BNC group enjoyed more spoils of evening before heading home just after 8pm feeling just that. www.jumeirahlowndeshotel.com
