Meeting Needs’ very own chairman, Chris Peacock, is putting on his running shoes for the first time in a long time to show just how serious he is about the charity by running in this year’s Royal Parks Half London.

Taking place on October 9th the 13.1 mile race starts and ends in Hyde Park and takes in the sites of the city en route.

It is the only London Half event that takes runners on a course through central London and through four of the capital’s eight royal parks.

Chris will form a party of 50 runners for Meeting Needs. They are a supportive community who have a WhatsApp group where they can pass on fundraising and training tips.

Since 2016 £100,000 has been raised in total for Meeting Needs.

Last year’s cohort of participants from agencies, hotels, DMCs and more raised an incredible £30,000.

Chris said he is proud of the way that the group unites the industry for a common cause and that Meeting Needs is ‘such a great organisation.’

Of the event, Chris said:

“In a moment of madness I decided that at 56, it’s the ideal time for me to do the Royal Parks Half Marathon for Meeting Needs Charity this October.

It’ll be quite the challenge, given some of my other favourite pastimes (!) and a lifetime dedicated to abusing my body, but I’ve started a training program for the summer and I’m committed to completing the course no matter what!

“It’s not likely that I’ll break any records for this (other than maybe the slowest time ever) but I’m told it’s the taking part that counts, and of course the fundraising.

“This is going to be a big challenge for me, but your generosity will spur me on to get the job done!”
