launches immersive cinema experience

Recently at Vue West End on Leicester Square, 250 event organisers and agents attended the launch of Vue’s immersive cinema experience, themed around the highly acclaimed Baz Luhrmann film ‘Elvis.’

On the red carpet, guests could indulge in a picture with the man himself Elvis, by a huge film poster. Dressed in a blue jumpsuit, studded with rhinestones, Matt King – who has been an award-winning Elvis Tribute Act for 30 years – glittered and posed for photos with partygoers.

Upstairs clients were treated to Elvis themed cocktails: Blue Suede Shoes, Kiss Me Quick and The King and canapés including, Elvis’s favourite the cheese-burger, vegan burgers with pineapple salsa, Louisiana chicken with moonshine dip, Memphis salmon cakes with lemon & dill sauce, Jail House Roquefort Arancini, Toffee apple pie & cream, lemon cheesecake, all served by waiters and waitresses resplendent in Elvis wigs, Hawaiian leis and sunglasses.

Plus, there were Elvis themed props that people could use in pictures such as Elvis’s aviator shades, wigs, guitars, microphones, and film poster themed frames, which proved to be hugely popular.

Head of corporate sales and advertising for Vue Rachel Macaulay said “by elevating the cinema experience and making it immersive really adds to the whole sense of occasion. It’s a great ice-breaker too and people can get involved as much or as little as they like.”

Following Rachel’s speech, Matt sang ‘Burning Love,’ ‘In the Ghetto’ and ‘Way Down,’ three of Elvis’ hits from the 70’s in front of the big screen before the film started.

Nikki Macgregor from Arup said “it was a truly brilliant night; everything was so well done, and it was really fun. The food was delicious, and Matt is a fabulous Elvis, it was a real treat, thank you!”

Helen Mulreay from SIA Group said “we did an immersive experience with Top Gun; we didn’t have a Maverick though! One for next time I think as it really does make for a great photo opportunity which people clearly love.”

Organisers can liaise with the events team to discover how much they can elevate their screening experience, prices on application.
