BNC Gives Back

Join us and give back

The BNC Gives Back initiative is gaining great momentum. Read all about what we have done so far and how you can get involved in future charity events.

Networking Event – For our first BNC Gives Back event we worked with VOLO, an organisation that connects volunteers with charitable organisations. 15 fantastic BNC members gave up an entire day to sit down at Camden’s The Interchange with event planners from charities like RNIB, The Children’s Trust, Beanstalk, Family Action and Global Giving to help them create and plan more streamlined events. “It was the best industry event I’ve ever attended. I would love to do this again,” said Hyundai’s Kate Conway.

Donations of Toiletries – At every BNC Show we now have a collection box for unopened toiletries. Maybe they have been at home in your cupboard or perhaps you have lots from hotel visits? Many of you have been very generous and donated gift sets and real pamper treats. We box them up and deliver them to organisations such as Glass Door, a charity that provides shelter and support to people experiencing homelessness.

In house – What happens to the uncollected gifts from our Shows’ ‘no-shows’? We give them to charity, of course! For example, leading up to Christmas 2017 a large luxury package of beauty products went to the NSPCC. Along with other items it was auctioned off at their Merry Little Christmas concert where £13,000 was raised.

Great River Rescue – On a cold and windy October day 30 BNC networkers plus the BNC staff team took to the banks of the Thames for a networking session with a difference. Under the guidance of environmentalists from waterways charity Thames21 we set about cleaning a stretch of the river armed with forks, picks, spades and bin bags. Digging in silt and sand was hard work but nothing that our event managers would shy away from as one tonne of debris was cleared in just a few short hours. A few pieces of ‘interesting’ treasure were uncovered, too, with an event manager from Barclays winning a prize for finding a pair of false teeth!

Volunteering - As part of our BNC Gives Back programme we are offering charities hands-on event management support in the lead-up to, or on the day, of major events.
