At The BNC Show in September 2022, we offered two Mulberry handbags as gifts to guests in celebration of our tenth anniversary year.

Normally, we ‘pull names out of a hat’ at random and the lucky winners take home their item on the spot.

However, after meeting pharmaceutical event manager Charlotte Dyer, and learning about her fundraiser, we decided to donate one of the bags to her worthy cause.

Charlotte is aiming to raise £200,000 for Ruben’s Fund which will enable the research team at Royal Brompton hospital to set up a dedicated project to research genetic diagnosis of paediatric cardiomyopathy.

Sadly, Charlotte’s three-and-a-half-month-old son, Ruben, died of dilated cardiomyopathy in January 2022 and Charlotte and partner Patrick want to help the experts at Royal Brompton to ‘better understand genetic susceptibility and underlying disease mechanisms’.

So far the incredible couple have raised £76,825 since starting the fund not long after Ruben lost his battle.

The Mulberry handbag featured as part of an online auction that Charlotte ran, raising £2,638.

She said:

“That was an amazing donation and I am so grateful you did that for me. People have been so kind and generous to help me get to this stage.”
