Mary Ward House: An historic Bloomsbury gem with a personal touch
A Grade I listed building, more than 30 distinctive rooms and two hidden outdoor gems, Mary Ward House is bringing its unique blend of heritage, flexibility and personal service to The BNC Show for the first time.
Tucked away in the heart of Bloomsbury, Mary Ward House is a venue with a story to tell.
Built in the 1890s with funding from philanthropist John Passmore Edwards and founded by novelist and social reformer Mary Ward, the building was renamed in her memory in 1921.
Today, it offers event managers a distinctive setting for everything from meetings and training days to conferences and celebrations.
With more than 30 rooms, the venue can accommodate a wide range of requirements, from small interview spaces to the impressive historic Mary Ward Hall, which has a theatre-style capacity of 350. And for those looking for something a little different, its two outdoor spaces are hidden gems that often come as a surprise to first-time visitors.
Kat Winfield, Director of Sales at Mary Ward House, says:
“The BNC Show is a brilliant chance to meet event professionals face to face, and that’s where we do our best work. Mary Ward House is a Grade I listed, independent venue, and it’s much easier to show people what makes it special in person.
“On the day, we’ll be sharing our spaces, our approach to sustainable events and the personal service our team is known for. I’m most looking forward to the conversations, hearing what planners are working on and finding out how we can help.”
The team’s personal approach is central to the venue’s offer. Mary Ward House works with a select group of suppliers, including local caterer Pure, which provides its cold food offering, from sandwiches and salads to sweet treats. Visitors to the stand will even have the chance to sample some of those treats for themselves.
Sustainability is another important part of the conversation, with the team ready to discuss ways to make events greener. The venue also offers preferential rates for charities, non-profits and government organisations, making it an option worth exploring for buyers working within specific budgets.
Conveniently located close to Euston and King’s Cross, Mary Ward House combines central London accessibility with a characterful setting and a friendly, independent team.
Nathan Paulden, Director of The BNC, says: “We’re looking forward to welcoming Kat and Mary Ward House to The BNC Show for the first time!
“Some venues have a character that’s difficult to convey in a brochure - you really need to experience them and meet the people behind them.”
Meet Kat Winfield and the Mary Ward House team on STAND 154 at The BNC Show on Thursday 29th October 2026, from 9am to 4pm at De Vere Grand Connaught Rooms, London.
